An industry-led action plan in support of Canada’s international commitment to climate change will has been launched today at a special event in Toronto.

EllisDon, in partnership with six of the most influential companies in Canada and collaboration with government leaders, have created the Carbon Impact Initiative Action Plan, outlining strategies to transform the market toward a low-carbon economy.

The ‘Low Carbon Agenda’ is a means to engage market leaders across sectors in response to the new priorities society and the environment are placing on our buildings and infrastructure.

“We will set in motion the tools and resources required to showcase Canada’s commitments through large scale projects,” said Andrew Bowerbank, Global Director of Sustainable Building Services at EllisDon. “The Carbon Impact Initiative will provide the leadership required to transform our market toward a low-carbon economy.”

The launch of the Carbon Impact Initiative will set the stage for future efforts to lead markets towards a low-carbon economy. Other aspects of the Low Carbon Agenda include carbon accounting, which will see buildings designed to meet aggressive performance targets. There will be a strong commitment to net-zero energy in urban building developments as well as a more integrated planning and development process with EllisDon and pilot low energy products.

Digital copies The Carbon Impact Initiative Action Plan will be made available online from today (June 15, 2016 ) at www.lowcarbonagenda.ellisdon.com
