Lendlease and McLaren enrolled to work on St John's construction project in Manchester
Allied London has selected its construction partners for the £1bn (US$1.4bn) St John’s project in Manchester.
Lendlease, the construction company based in Sydney, Australia, was be focusing on the new build, whilst the UK’s McLaren Construction will be based on rebfurbishment.
Lendlease will begin work on a 52-storey tower in the 6-acre plot once enabling works have begun in the coming weeks.
The tower has been designed by SimpsonHaugh & Partners, and will host private flats as well as a Nadler Hotel, and a restaurant.
The firm will also work on the Globe & Simpson work space, located next to the tower, and two 36-storey Nickel and Dime buildings, designed by Denton Corker Marshall.
The Nickel and Dime buildings will feature 610 apartments, adding to the total of 3,000 homes and 600,000sqft of commercial space in the St John’s neighbourhood.

The Astley & Byrom Bonded Warehouse located in the area will be transformed into a film, TV, media, and tech site for companies.
