Who is Skanska’s New England Executive VP & GM?

Construction juggernaut, Skanska, has promoted Anubhav (Abu) Bhargava from Senior Vice President and Account Manager to Executive Vice President and General Manager of its New England building operations.

Abu brings a wealth of industry experience to his role as well as a deep knowledge of the company, having worked in construction for 30 years, and for Skanska over half that time.

The Skanska veteran has held a number of leadership roles since joining the company in 2008 as a Project Manager in Maryland. In 2013, he relocated to Massachusetts for his work, one of the locations he oversees in his new role.

“Abu’s leadership, deep industry expertise and ability to build strong relationships have been instrumental to the continued success of our New England business,” said Kerim Evin, Regional Executive Officer of the Northeast Region at Skanska USA Building.

“He has consistently demonstrated an ability to grow our business, lead high-performing teams and deliver complex projects while maintaining a strong focus on our customers. We are confident that Abu is the right leader to guide our New England Operating Unit into its next chapter.” 

Deep industry expertise and support of Skanska’s approach

Abu’s background is diverse. He has directed work across a wide range of sectors, from federal to commercial, transportation and manufacturing. 

He has also held managerial positions in the life sciences, higher education and aviation.

Throughout his time at Skanska he has been pivotal in driving the company’s One Skanska approach designed to bolster partnerships and collaboration across the company’s businesses on projects.

Building high-performing teams and delivering results

Abu has developed a reputation for forming top class teams and achieving results on complex projects.

His management has already supported Skanska’s New England business for long-term growth.

Key to his success is developing strong relationships with employees, clients and industry stakeholders. His bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Regional Engineering College in Kurukshetra, India, and a master’s degree in construction management from Arizona State University has provided the technical foundation he has needed to excel.

Skanska’s new Vice President – Account Manager, New England

Abu’s new appointment follows the promotion of Mark Lootz to Vice President – Account Manager for Skanska’s New England business in March 2026.

Mark is now responsible for directing and developing the growth of the business’ operations across the education, healthcare, commercial and sports and recreation markets.

Mark is familiar with these markets from his 13-year tenure with the company.
