Rockwell Automation and Circulor to enhance supply chain transparency and sustainability, empowering manufacturers to meet regulatory demands on cement

Rockwell Automation is collaborating with supply chain traceability specialist Circulor to transform how industries, including construction, operate.

The partnership is a significant step towards ensuring manufacturers can meet emerging regulatory demands, including the Digital Product Passport, which is designed to close the gap between consumer demands for transparency and the current lack of reliable product data.

With advanced traceability solutions, Rockwell and Circulor are committed to enhancing transparency throughout the supply chain, driving not just compliance but also sustainability and operational efficiency.

In the first instance, it plans to transform how the auto, tyre and battery industries operate.

However, looking ahead, Rockwell intends to deploy this cutting-edge solution across various industries, including metals, mining and cement.

The cement industry is working to reduce its carbon emissions, with some manufacturers aiming to reduce emissions by 30% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. And from January 1, 2025, importers into the EU will need to declare the quantity of goods imported and the greenhouse gas emissions embedded in them.
Rockwell will implement its traceability solutions through its Kalypso business, which is a diverse team of consultants, innovators, strategists, data scientists and technologists.

In time, Kalypso will engage with customers across mining and construction to assess their unique needs, offer consulting services and support the rollout of this groundbreaking solution throughout their supply chains.

Transforming supply chain transparency

In practical terms, Rockwell’s advanced solutions will empower manufacturers to trace the origin of raw materials from source to final product, creating an unbroken chain of custody.

In an era when global regulations are continuously evolving, requiring greater transparency, Circulor’s platform is positioned to deliver a comprehensive view of the materials journey—from raw extraction to the finished product.

This level of insight doesn’t just help companies comply with the rules; it enables them to meet their sustainability goals and foster more responsible and efficient supply chains.

At the core of Rockwell’s success lies the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork, a formidable alliance of global partners that collectively elevate the game in industrial solutions.

This powerful ecosystem is designed to offer leading-edge technologies, expert support and integrated business solutions.

Rockwell firmly believes in the strength of collaboration; after all, it’s this partnership that enables businesses to flourish on an international scale.

By pooling resources and innovations that no single provider could offer alone, they are not merely shaping industries—they are shaping the future of industrial enterprises.

James Glasson, VP of Global Industry for Auto, Tire and Advanced Mobility, Rockwell

Douglas Johnson-Poensgen, CEO of Circulor, aptly sums it up: “In an increasingly competitive and complex market where being sustainable and responsible is a strategic imperative, the combination of Rockwell’s state-of-the-art manufacturing expertise and Circulor’s leading traceability and digital product passports provide organizations with the answer to gaining a competitive advantage.”

Unlocking business value through collaboration

The collaboration doesn’t stop at merely meeting regulatory requirements. It’s about unlocking business value beyond compliance.

By integrating Circulor’s traceability platform with Rockwell’s existing automation systems, manufacturers will gain actionable insights that can reduce costs, enhance efficiency and create a significant competitive edge in a rapidly evolving sustainability landscape.

James Glasson, Rockwell's Vice President of Global Industry for Auto, Tire and Advanced Mobility, reinforces this sentiment: “Our focus on sustainability aligns with our customers’ strategic objectives.

"This collaboration with Circulor allows us to offer a comprehensive traceability solution that not only addresses growing global regulations but also provides unprecedented visibility into supply chain carbon footprints.”

As traceability becomes a cornerstone of industry standards, this partnership positions Rockwell and its customers at the forefront of sustainable practices, championing both operational excellence and environmental responsibility.

Together, they are setting the stage for a future where accountability and transparency reign supreme in the industrial world.
