How Samsung & FläktGroup are Shaping the Future of HVAC

Samsung Electronics has acquired FläktGroup, a global HVAC solutions provider, to expand its presence in the fast-growing HVAC market and to reshape how supply chains support energy efficiency, data centres and indoor air quality across regions.
HVAC references Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning and covers systems that control temperature, airflow and comfort inside buildings. The acquisition completed in November 2025 and places FläktGroup inside Samsung Electronics while allowing the business to operate as an independent subsidiary with its name, management, personnel and facilities intact.
With the acquisition in place, FläktGroup appointed David Dorney as new CEO. David brings more than 20 years of global HVAC leadership experience and focuses on growth across industrial sectors that rely on resilient supply chains and dependable delivery.
In an interview with Samsung Electronic’s newsroom, David explains the scale of the opportunity and the forces shaping production and logistics across the industry.
“The HVAC market is strong and growing," he says "driven by energy efficiency mandates, rising urbanisation, adoption of smart technologies such as IoT and AI and increased focus on indoor air quality (IAQ), with projections showing significant expansion through 2030-2035.”
Building a regional supply chain footprint
“Our priority is to build on our new partnership with Samsung and continue the collaboration between our teams that started in 2025,” David says.
“We’re focusing on coolant distribution unit (CDU) technology and expanding our FläktEdge smart control systems, while investing in R&D to speed up delivery and support partner projects.
"The planned plant in Korea will be a template for all future FläktGroup factories and it is essential to the expansion of our presence in the wider region. We’re also investing in new production facilities and field services in India and the US, where we see significant growth opportunities in data centres and indoor climate solutions.”
The focus on plants in Korea, India and the US highlights how Samsung and FläktGroup align manufacturing close to demand to reduce lead times and strengthen supply chains.
Following the acquisition, Samsung plans to leverage FläktGroup’s production and sales units to expand R&D and strengthen the supply chain, progressively integrating products and services to maximise synergies. This approach links manufacturing, logistics and service into a single operating model.
FläktGroup’s subsidiaries have also become part of Samsung Electronics, including Woods Air Movement which provides ventilation and fire safety systems and SEMCO which specialises in air handling and flow solutions.
Samsung also confirmed that FläktGroup continues as an independent subsidiary. This structure preserves technological expertise and brand identity while allowing closer coordination across procurement, production planning and regional distribution.
Data centres and resilient delivery
“This marks a strategic move for Samsung, aimed at leading the global HVAC and data centre markets,” says TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience DX Division at Samsung Electronics.
“By merging FläktGroup’s technological expertise with Samsung’s AI platforms, we aim to set a new benchmark in the industry, delivering innovative solutions to customers.”
Data centres house computing equipment and require precision cooling to operate reliably. Within the DX Division, Samsung plans to nurture HVAC as a growth engine and to invest in commercial HVAC solutions that serve AI data centres.
As demand for large-scale air conditioning systems grows in Korea, North America and Europe, including factories, commercial complexes, marine, hospitals and biopharmaceutical facilities, Samsung aims to establish a robust supply chain in each region and enhance service capabilities.
Global production and customer proximity
FläktGroup brings over a century of history and technical expertise and supplies central air conditioning and precision cooling solutions across global markets.
The company operates more than 10 production bases for central HVAC products and builds an extensive sales and service network across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia.
Based on these capabilities, FläktGroup participates in the Stargate Project and partners with hyperscale customers.
The company develops custom solutions aimed at the data centre sector and AI industry demands. It establishes a dedicated North America data centre team to respond to US demand and invests in a global account team headquartered in Singapore to support key customers, ensuring proximity and ease of doing business through a connected supply chain.
