The Turner, Good Samaritan Hospital, TriHealth partnership

In its 50th year of partnership with TriHealth and Good Samaritan Hospital, Turner has completed phase one of the new Ambulatory Services Building for the facility. 

The work is a key component of a larger US$240m project to upgrade the hospital with enhanced outpatient services, surgery facilities and wayfinding, which broke ground in 2022. Completion is slated for late 2028.

“Reaching substantial completion on phase one of the project is a tremendous accomplishment for our entire team and trade partners,” says Rob Hudepohl, Project Manager at Turner.

TriHealth’s mission for Good Samaritan Hospital

TriHealth aims to transform Good Samaritan Hospital into “a medical campus of the future”. 

The modernisation includes stroke and high risk maternity centres, health and wellness-centred outpatient services including bone marrow transplant and precision medicine and what it describes as “new state-of-the-art” surgical services.

Originally set to be a five-year project, it is designed to help transform the 170-year-old hospital into one of the region’s most technologically advanced healthcare facilities.

“We will never stop looking for ways to improve our services and how we care for our patients,” said Marla Silliman, Senior Vice President at Good Samaritan Regional Operations.

A comprehensive modernisation project

The Good Samaritan Hospital's new five-story, 168,000-square-foot Ambulatory Services Building will host its “Centers of Excellence” including its institutes for cancer, women’s health and the heart.

It is designed to streamline outpatient services including infusion, medical oncology and cellular therapy. 

It will also offer services such as cardiac testing, imaging and pulmonary rehab among others. 

Additionally, the building will house radiology as well as a new and expanded Emergency Department and other departments.

TriHealth says its extensive offering will make it “one of the most advanced and comprehensive destinations for healthcare services in the region”.

Other enhancements include improved access to the hospital and wayfinding, the renovation of existing buildings and a new staff parking garage.

A 50-year-long partnership

Turner’s work at Good Samaritan began in the 1980s. Over the years it has executed multiple building expansions, renovations and improvements.

The company says it not only has “decades of familiarity with the campus” but a shared commitment to building for the hospital’s future.”

TriHealth is Cincinnati’s only nationally recognised integrated health system, comprising five hospitals, more than 140 sites of care and 13 ambulatory campuses.
