Skanska has confirmed that Antonia Junelind will succeed Jari Mäntylä as Chief Financial Officer of Skanska USA Civil, effective 1 January 2027.

The move forms part of a planned leadership transition, with Jari shifting his focus to strategic initiatives ahead of his retirement.

Antonia currently serves as Senior Vice President of Investor Relations for the Skanska Group, a role in which she has represented the company's civil infrastructure business to capital markets throughout a period of significant US growth.

Her move to Skanska USA Civil caps more than 15 years with the company, spanning finance, investor relations, transactions and business development across its Nordic, European and US operations.

Most recently, she has been the public face of Skanska's quarterly investor communications, regularly presenting the group's civil infrastructure results.

The segment has become a standout performer since the passage of the US Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

"Antonia brings a global perspective and a strong understanding of Skanska that will be valuable as we continue to grow," says Don Fusco, President and CEO of Skanska USA Civil.

"She brings tremendous energy, curiosity and a strong work ethic, along with a willingness to get into the details and do what it takes to move the business forward."

What the appointment signals

The appointment points to continuity of financial discipline alongside a fresh commercial lens on a business that has scaled quickly.

Key takeaways from Skanska's official announcement include:
  • Antonia will work alongside Jari during a structured handover period to ensure continuity
  • Her background bridges group-level investor relations with hands-on transaction and business development experience
  • The appointment reinforces internal succession planning rather than external recruitment
  • It follows a period of heavy order intake across Skanska's US civil infrastructure portfolio
  • Jari will remain involved in strategic initiatives ahead of his eventual retirement

"Skanska's USA Civil business is in a very strong position, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to build on that foundation," says Antonia.

Civil business by the numbers

Skanska USA Civil's recent order book illustrates the scale Antonia will now help steward financially. Notable figures from the unit's public contract announcements include:

  • A US$1bn contract, delivered with joint-venture partner FlatironDragados, for the Long Bridge North rail project in Washington, D.C. and Virginia
  • A US$918m design-build award for the Regional Connector transit project in downtown Los Angeles, of which Skanska's share was US$574m
  • A US$450m contract with the Massachusetts Port Authority for Logan Airport's Terminal E parking garage
  • A US$389m contract, in joint venture with Coffman Specialties, for the I-15 Corridor Freight and Express Lanes project in California
  • Skanska's reported share of a US$8bn transportation programme secured through the Penn Transportation Partners joint venture

Together, these projects underline why continuity in financial leadership matters to a business unit managing multiple billion-dollar joint ventures simultaneously.

Antonia's dual grounding in group finance and civil infrastructure positions her to maintain the reporting rigour investors have come to expect while supporting the unit's next phase of growth.
