Construction firm Kier begins £85m redevelopment of the Arndale shopping centre
Kier has landed the first phase of the £85m redevelopment of the Arndale Centre in Eastbourne, UK.
Work will start on site imminently on the £2m first phase to create a contemporary glass atrium at the shopping centre’s west entrance. Kier is due to complete work by Christmas with work on the main part of the 170,000 sq ft extension is due to start next year.
The scheme will be arranged over three floors and contain an additional 22 retail units, seven restaurant units, a multiscreen cinema and a significant extension to the car park.
Construction information specialist Glenigan said Kier, McLaren and Bowmer & Kirkland are in the running for the main contract. Neil Crawford, Retail Development Manager at Legal & General Property, said: “We are delighted to announce that Kier Construction will be carrying out the first phase of this very exciting regeneration project.”
