AECOM expands its position on the GCA CPS2 Framework to nine lots, gaining new nuclear energy and flood risk and asset management categories

AECOM has secured a position on nine lots within the Government Commercial Agency (GCA) Construction Professional Services 2 (CPS2) Framework. The global company held five lots when it was first appointed to the framework in 2021.

The framework has a total value of US$4.7bn. It provides the main route for UK public sector organisations to procure construction services across health, housing, energy and education projects.

Central UK government departments and public sector bodies can access technical advisory, design and project management services through the agreement. The framework covers standalone projects, multi-year capital programmes and international work for government clients operating worldwide.

Second consecutive appointment

The CPS2 Framework runs for four years with no option to extend. AECOM, which is also leading engineering work on the redevelopment of Melbourne's MCG, has now been appointed for the second consecutive term on the agreement.

The company delivers technical services across water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings. Its work spans advisory, planning, design and engineering work as well as programme and construction management services.

The GCA operates as the UK's largest public procurement organisation. It establishes and maintains commercial agreements across public sector bodies to ensure value for money when purchasing goods and services.

The agency works to reduce supply chain risk and promote economic growth through its frameworks. Its CPS2 Framework provides access to engineering advisory services across all project scales, including flood risk, asset management, international projects and defence work.

Expanded market access

"As one of the largest procurement frameworks in the history of UK public sector consultancy, the scope and scale of CPS2 provides an important route to market for our multidisciplinary offerings in key sectors including energy, defence, social infrastructure, transportation and environment," says Lara Poloni, AECOM's President.

The nine lots AECOM has secured cover general infrastructure, project management, defence, defence enhanced, international, nuclear energy and three flood risk and asset management categories. General infrastructure provides access to construction professional services across a variety of projects for public sector clients.

Project management services support multidisciplinary teams, budgets, risk management and compliance across programmes. Defence lots offer support across all lifecycle stages with security-cleared staff and policies to meet additional security requirements. The defence enhanced lot provides specialist capabilities for more complex security needs.

Public sector partnerships

The international lot delivers worldwide project lifecycle support to clients including the Ministry of Defence and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

Nuclear energy services cover discrete delivery stages for projects in nuclear environments. The three flood risk and asset management lots provide access to specialist services across project lifecycles, ranging from category a through to category c.

"Our appointment to CPS2 deepens our relationship as a trusted partner with organisations across the UK public sector, including central government departments, local authorities and the Environment Agency," says Richard Whitehead, Chief Executive of AECOM's Europe & India region.

Richard says CPS2 provides the opportunity to continue supporting the UK public sector in solving its most pressing challenges across infrastructure and the built environment.
