UK construction giant Kier is helping to drive a new government initiative that will assist in delivering the next generation of hospitals in the UK.

It has won the contract for the £500m (US$671m) redevelopment of Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon, which covers the next phase of development on the site.

The award follows Kier joining the Hospital 2.0 Alliance Framework, a part of the New Hospital Programme established jointly by the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England. 

It is the largest single investment programme targeting NHS infrastructure in recent decades.

UK and Ireland-focused construction group GRAHAM has won the contract for the Didcot to Culham River crossing.

The start of the Didcot and surrounding areas major infrastructure HIF1 scheme was long overdue but the third and final contract has been awarded.

The local council already has appointed GRAHAM to deliver the Clifton Hampden Bypass, the second contract awarded under the scheme, in the county of Oxfordshire, England.

“It is fantastic to have partnered with Oxfordshire County Council once again on another essential civil engineering project in the area,” says Andrew Henry, GRAHAM Contracts Director.

Historically, the construction industry is known as a slow adopter of new technology. 

However, this truth is now jarring with another: output is not meeting demand.

McKinsey & Company has found that construction output may fail to meet demand by up to a considerable US$40bn cumulatively by 2040.

Meanwhile, it has also discovered that the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry could unlock around US$228bn in annual value in the United States through automation technology. 

It is this type of technology that industrial equipment powerhouse Komatsu has been developing in partnership with AIM Intelligent Machines (AIM), a manufacturer of autonomous operation technology for bulldozers and hydraulic excavators.

Turner Construction has celebrated the topping out of the Hudson Valley Hudson Community College Applied Technology Education Center

Turner has reached a milestone in the construction of the Hudson Valley Community College's (HVCC’s) Applied Technology Education Center.

The US-based construction giant celebrated the topping out of the Applied Technology Education Center which marks the completion of the building’s structural framework.

The 130,000 square foot centre is being built as one of New York’s major workforce development facilities.

After breaking ground in October 2025, Neil Kelleher, Chair of the HVCC Board of Trustees, and a 1991 graduate of the college, said: “Our workforce partners have been telling us for years that they need more skilled workers to fill the jobs that power our region.
