Turner Construction: Building Meta's Digital infrastructure

Turner Construction Company has been selected by Meta as one of the contractors for its US$10bn data centre campus in Lebanon, Indiana.
The project has broken ground, marking a significant milestone in Meta's continued expansion of advanced digital infrastructure โ one of the company's largest investments to date.
Gigawatt-scale infrastructure to power AI and core services
The state-of-the-art campus will span approximately four million square feet and deliver 1 gigawatt (GW) of capacity to support Meta's core business as well as artificial intelligence.
As AI advances and demand for high-performance computing continues to grow, gigawatt-scale campuses like this one will play a critical role in supporting next-generation digital infrastructure.
At peak construction, the project is expected to support more than 4,000 construction jobs. Once operational, the campus will create approximately 300 operational jobs, representing a significant long-term investment in the Lebanon community and the State of Indiana.
Sustainability commitments and LEED Gold Certification
Meta will pay the full cost for energy, water and wastewater services used by the data centre to ensure residents are not negatively impacted.
In alignment with Meta's energy and sustainability commitments, 100% of the facility's energy use will be matched with clean and renewable energy.
The data centre will be built to achieve LEED Gold certification and will utilise a water-efficient, closed-loop liquid cooling system that recirculates water and uses zero water for a majority of the year.
Community investment and workforce development
This new data centre is designed to have the flexibility to handle both AI workloads and Meta's core products.
Meta is working with local partners to address critical needs in the Boone County community through grants programmes, multi-year donations for energy affordability โ including US$1m each year for 20 years to the Boone REMC Community Fund, and funding emergency water utility assistance through The Caring Centre โ and ongoing investments exceeding US$120m towards critical water infrastructure in Lebanon, as well as other public infrastructure improvements including roads, transmission lines and utility upgrades.
Meta's annual Community Action Grants programme will extend to Boone County non-profits, schools and organisations in coming months.
Meta is also launching a new Boone County-wide workforce development programme through the Boone County Career Collaborative. This programme will support career exploration and work-based learning for students across three school districts.
In addition, Meta's water stewardship efforts include restoring 100% of the water consumed in Lebanon to local watersheds, partnering with Arable to provide irrigation technology saving 200 million gallons of water a year for 10 years to independent farmers in Indiana's Upper Wabash River Basin, and revitalising a section of the Deer Creek stream to improve ecological health, expand vegetation and create better habitat for pollinators.
The largest infrastructure investments in Indiana's history
"The scale of the Lebanon Data Centre reflects the growing demand for high-performance infrastructure," adds Ben Kaplan, Managing Director, Turner Construction Company.
"We look forward to working alongside Meta and applying our integrated services and deep mission-critical experience to deliver this data centre safely, sustainably and efficiently while supporting the long-term growth of the Lebanon community."
Once complete, the Lebanon Data Centre will stand as one of the largest infrastructure investments in Indiana's history, reinforcing the state's role as a hub for advanced technology and digital innovation.
