Behind every listed contractor's relationship with the market stands a team that explains strategy, performance and long-term ambition to investors

At Skanska Group, Helena Åfeldt, who has led a career in finance across several parts of the business, will manage that team, having been appointed by the Vice President Investor Relations.

She will bring deep financial knowledge and operational understanding to her new role.

“Her financial expertise, analytical perspective and understanding of Skanska make her very well qualified to lead our Investor Relations team and continue developing our dialogue with the capital markets,” Pontus Winqvist, Executive Vice President and CFO of Skanska Group.

A career built in finance

Helena currently serves as Vice President Financial Support & Analysis at Skanska Group.

In her new position she succeeds Antonia Junelind, who takes on the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Skanska US Civil from 1 January 2027, succeeding Jari Mäntylä as part of a longer-term transition ahead of his retirement.

Helena will report to Pontus Winqvist, Executive Vice President and CFO of Skanska Group.

Her background spans several different parts of the organisation. She has held senior finance positions as Finance Business Partner for Commercial Development and as Regional Controller for Residential Development.

Together, these roles have given her knowledge of both local and Group operations, a combination that is valuable when explaining a diversified business to external audiences.

“I am excited to take on the role as Vice President Investor Relations. I look forward to working with the team and building on our established relationships with investors and analysts,” says Helena. “With my experience from different roles within finance across Skanska, I hope to contribute a broad business perspective and support a clear and credible dialogue about Skanska’s performance, priorities and long-term development.”

Relationship continuity

Moving an experienced finance professional into a role vacated by a colleague who is taking on a major leadership position elsewhere in the Group helps preserve continuity in relationships that take years to build.

Construction businesses manage long project timelines, varied portfolios and significant financial commitments, all of which investors need to understand.

An investor relations lead who has worked close to the business, in commercial and residential development for example, can connect headline figures to the activity behind them.
