Bristol Myers Squibb: Building a Texas Manufacturing Campus

Bristol Myers Squibb has confirmed plans to construct a US$2.3bn manufacturing campus in Houston, Texas.
The facility will form part of the company's broader US$40bn investment programme across US research, development, technology and domestic manufacturing over five years.
The project scope has expanded from earlier reports that placed the investment closer to US$1bn.
The campus will occupy 600,000 square feet at Generation Park in Houston.
Multi-modal facility design
The Houston site will operate as a modular manufacturing campus with capability to produce multiple medicine types.
These include small molecules, biologics and antibody-drug conjugates across various disease areas.
The facility will handle drug product and finished goods manufacturing from late-stage development through to commercial launch.
Its modular configuration could allow Bristol Myers Squibb to activate new manufacturing capabilities as pipeline and commercial requirements change.
The architectural layout accommodates future advances in digital integration and automation.
Bristol Myers Squibb expects the campus to expand beyond its initial configuration in both scale and capability.

Employment and construction timeline
The campus will create almost 500 specialist jobs once operational. Bristol Myers Squibb states the facility has room to grow and scale in subsequent years.
Construction and indirect employment will generate around 2,000 jobs between 2027 and 2030 as the facility is built.
The company will join Eli Lilly at Generation Park, where that firm is constructing its own US$6.5bn manufacturing facility to increase domestic production of small molecule synthetic medicines.

Broader infrastructure expansion
Bristol Myers Squibb has announced multiple infrastructure investments in recent months.
The company is scaling its NVIDIA-powered AI infrastructure to create what it describes as the most powerful AI factory in life sciences.
The next-generation system is designed to deliver up to 10 times greater performance per megawatt than its predecessor.
This follows the company's existing position as operator of one of the industry's most powerful AI systems.
A US$400m sterile drug product facility at Cruiserath Campus in Dublin is also scheduled for completion in 2026.
That investment will support manufacturing and supply of existing medicines and create 350 new jobs.
