OpenSpace Launches Field-Ready BIM Tech
OpenSpace launches a new product for building information modeling (BIM) technology to be adopted in the field for fast problem solving

OpenSpace - a global leader in 360 degree reality capture and AI-powered analytics - has announced the launch of OpenSpace BIM+ following its latest collaboration announcement with Revizto.

OpenSpace BIM+ is a suite of easy-to-use 3D tools to help field teams and virtual design and construction (VDC) teams to get work done faster by unlocking BIM coordination on site.

The announcement marks the company’s third product that uses cutting-edge technology to empower project teams to solve problems faster. A popular feature for OpenSpace customers is the capability to compare 2D drawings and 3D models allowing field teams to navigate and compare site conditions to the projet’s BIM, more than half of its customers use this feature.

“We recognised that many of our customers were seeking more powerful, yet easy-to-use BIM tools from OpenSpace,” shared Neel Sheth, Vice President of Product at OpenSpace.

He added: “Our customers’ BIM usage in OpenSpace was outpacing the industry’s overall rate of BIM adoption. That told us that OpenSpace might be able to help drive BIM utilisation for those teams that are adopting and investing in BIM. With OpenSpace BIM+, we have partnered with VDC leaders and their project teams to help them work with BIM as easily as navigating a Google Street View.”

OpenSpace BIM+ features

As an add on product to the company’s OpenSpace Capture, OpenSpace BIM+ offers customers:

  • BIM analysis tools: speeding up communication by allowing field teams to easily work in the BIM and compare that to what they are building.
  • BIM coordination tools: featured designs to help teams quickly solve problems by aligning design intent with on-site conditions, as well as speeding up responses, approvals, and project schedules.
  • Seamless model management: to help streamline the design and construction process, this function helps to keep the BIM model up-to-date.

“With the implementation of OpenSpace BIM+, our project teams will gain the ability to swiftly address inquiries directly from the field, significantly minimising the time-consuming exchanges they encounter while resolving challenges,” concluded Breawn Felix, Regional Support Services Manager at Swinerton.
