What does Trackunit do?

Trackunit is a leading provider of telematics and digital solutions specifically designed for the construction industry.

We focus on eliminating downtime and enhancing productivity by connecting equipment, operators and managers through our advanced platform.

Our flagship product, IrisX, is an operating data platform that integrates artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and automation to provide actionable insights from vast amounts of construction data.

We help OEMs, construction and rental companies optimise asset utilisation, manage fleets more effectively, predict maintenance needs and improve overall project efficiency.

Our solutions are designed to be flexible and scalable, allowing businesses of all sizes to leverage data-driven decision-making and streamline their operations.

What is your role there?

As the CEO of Trackunit, my role is to steer the company towards our vision of eliminating downtime in the construction industry.

For instance, our Generative AI models enable users to interact with their data more intuitively, allowing them to generate reports, predict equipment needs and make informed decisions in real time.

We also provide a development environment where customers can build and deploy their AI algorithms designed to their specific requirements.

This approach not only empowers our customers to harness the full potential of their data but also drives continuous innovation and improvement across the industry.

How do you see the construction technology market changing in the future?

The construction technology market is evolving rapidly, driven by a need for greater efficiency, sustainability and connectivity.

The future is rushing towards us and I believe we will see an even greater emphasis on data-driven decision-making, with AI and machine learning playing pivotal roles.

The integration of digital tools will become more seamless, with platforms such as IrisX becoming central hubs for data management, analysis and actionable insights.

Additionally, we will see a stronger focus on sustainability and decarbonisation efforts, as digital tools help the industry track and reduce its carbon footprint.

The construction sector will continue to shift from reactive to proactive management, using predictive analytics to foresee and address potential issues before they escalate.

This transformation will create smarter, safer, and more efficient job sites, ultimately redefining the construction landscape.

How can the construction industry best utilise AI?

To fully leverage the benefits of technology and AI, the construction industry needs to embrace a mindset of digital transformation.

This involves not just adopting new tools but also rethinking traditional workflows and processes.

Companies should focus on integrating platforms like IrisX that offer centralised data management, real-time analytics and AI-driven insights.

Businesses need to invest in training and development, ensuring that their workforce is equipped with the skills needed to use these new technologies effectively.

Collaboration across stakeholders whether manufacturers, contractors, or technology providers is also key to fostering innovation and building solutions that meet the industry's unique needs.

By adopting an agile approach and being open to change, the construction industry can significantly improve efficiency, safety and sustainability.

Best advice ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received is to “embrace change and stay curious.”

In an industry like ours, where technology is rapidly evolving, it’s crucial to remain open to new ideas and continuously seek out opportunities for growth and improvement.

Staying curious means asking the right questions, challenging the status quo and not being afraid to explore uncharted territory.

It’s about understanding that innovation doesn’t just come from big, disruptive changes but also from the incremental improvements and learning that happen every day.

This mindset has helped me and Trackunit navigate the complexities of the construction technology landscape and drive meaningful change for our customers and partners.
