Commercial Metals Company (CMC) has earned recognition from TIME and Statista, showcasing its commitment to employee satisfaction, sustainable growth and industry leadership in steel production for the global construction industry.

TIME, the American news magazine and Statista, a leading statistics portal providing data on various industries and markets, have awarded CMC as one of America's best mid-size companies for 2024.

CMC is a leader in steel production and innovative construction solutions and has evolved into a pivotal player in the steel industry, supplying essential materials to major construction projects worldwide.

The company's other recent accolades include being named by a American daily newspaper USA TODAY, on the list of America's Best Climate Leaders for 2024, underscoring its dedication to sustainable practices and innovation in steel production.

Here, we take a look at CMC and its achievements in the construction sector and around sustainability.

CMC's impact on global construction

CMC's influence extends beyond its Texas headquarters, reaching construction projects across North America and Central Europe.

It offers global construction services, specialising in project management, quantity surveying, and employer's agent roles, helping clients deliver projects efficiently and cost-effectively.

The company's products are integral to the development of critical infrastructure, from highways and bridges to skyscrapers and sports stadiums.

CMC’s expertise has been sought by major industry players such as Network Rail, a UK infrastructure provider and The Crown Estate, a property management company.

It has also been involved in high-profile projects, such as the redevelopment of London's Victoria Station and the construction of sustainable housing developments.

Major construction firms and infrastructure developers rely on CMC's high-quality steel reinforcing bars (rebar) rebar to ensure the durability and longevity of their projects.

Rebars are essential components in construction, providing structural integrity to concrete structures.

Notable clients benefiting from CMC's innovations include those involved in the construction of AT&T Stadium in Dallas and the renovation of the Pentagon.

CMC's innovation and sustainability at the forefront

CMC is also at the forefront of product innovation.

The company  pioneered the continuous process micro mill, a more energy-efficient technology that has set new standards in steel production.

It also introduced spooled rebar to the US market, offering a product that reduces costs and waste for its customers.

Sustainability is a key focus for CMC, with the launch of its Zero line in 2022 providing its customers with a carbon-neutral steel solution.

This initiative positions CMC as a leader in environmentally responsible steel manufacturing. This position is cemented by the company's use of electric arc furnace technology and 100% recycled scrap in its production processes.

Peter R. Matt, President and Chief Executive Officer of CMC

CMC President and CEO, Peter Matt, said of the recognition: "We strive to provide our over 13,000 employees an environment where safety is our top concern, and where they have the opportunity for both personal and professional growth.

"Since our founding in 1915, we have consistently focused on being a responsible company, while providing value for all our stakeholders including employees, customers, communities, financial partners and shareholders."
